I Wasn’t Being Heartless When I Said Your Favorite Song Lacked Heart – Hot Club de Paris
Where has this band been hiding on me? Fun song. Me likey. A lot.
I was listening to SIRIUS this morning in my car.
A house ad came on and said “satellite was the future of radio”
I only listen to satellite radio in my car because it’s the best option in the car right now in terms of convenience.
But the future of radio isn’t satellite which by defintion is a one way system. Radio is broadcast as well. Not the future in my book. The future of radio is a two way system. And it’s going to come from the internet.
Then as I said last year, we will have Radio 2.0
If She Wants Me – Belle & Sebastian
I was listening to songs from the various tumblelogs I follow on my dashboard this morning. Andy Weissman posted his favorite B&S tune “Lazy Line Painter Jane”. That’s a great song but I can’t pick just one with this band. They are too good.
Since moving into my new place I’ve noticed something that has changed since the first time I installed WiFi in any home I’ve lived in.
My local network speed via WiFi (802.11n) is slower than my connectivity to the internet (thanks to Verizon FIOS). And setting up these networks still feels hard and fragile.
My home office and a few other rooms have ethernet in the new house but I dont’ like being tethered down to one spot in the house. That’s why we use laptops in the house instead of desktop machines for the most part.
The home network at home needs to improve. We’ve been living with the same set of technologies for the most part for about 10 years. Maybe more. We’ve been getting more speed but the ease of use leaves a lot to be desired. Installation remains complicated & challenging. And now the even the speed improvements isn’t keeping up with the last mile.
Our Sonos system uses their own networking scheme to mesh together. It’s quite clever. Once one node is active is a button click to activate new nodes.
I want all my the devices on my home network to work just like that. And I need it to get faster. Downstream and upstream.
Father and Son – Johnny Cash w/Fiona Apple
This song goes out to my wonderful dad for Father’s Day today.
Same Old Drag – The Apples in Stereo
Was listening to Hype Machine’s popular last night and this song was just what I needed. Fun tune. Enjoy.
There has been a slight change in the time of the upcoming Berkman Center Non-Compete Event.
The date is unchanged – still taking place June 19th.
But the time is now from 4-8pm and the panel will start at 5pm.
Hope you can make it. More info here.

Board meeting
We had a Tumblr board mtg this morning. Marco took this photo of John Borthwick, David Karp and me getting ready to eat a bagle.
(I didn’t want the bad carbs but I was starving and couldn’t eat any of the disgusting food on the Amtrak this morning)
My colleague Rob Go has just written a post “Please Convince Me to Get an iPhone”.
It’s clear that I’m getting one but Rob isn’t convinced and I’m sure he’s not alone when he asks:
“Maybe I’m too simple minded, but what I really care about is:
1. Does email and calendaring work seamlessly?
2. Can I type quickly and accurately?
3. Can I live with just one device in my pocket?”
So what do you think? Does Rob have a point? Head over to his tumblelog and leave him a comment or reblog his post with your thoughts.
