Newfoundland, Canada

Part I

Earlier this month Lauren and I visited Newfoundland. Just the two of us. We spent a few days on the east coast, followed by a few days hiking around the west coast. The fjords, icebergs, lighthouses are all so beautiful.

The people of Newfoundland are also so warm and welcoming. We were surprised how pervasive the Irish culture and heritage persists throughout this country — from the warm people, the stories, pride of history, language, music and food.

We had such a great time. I am so glad we made the trip.

At home, with James | March 2016

Our daughters are older a bit older and closer in our age to each other than our son. James just turn 10 last month. And because he’s younger than the girls, I often think of him as being this little toddler running around the house.

But he’s not a toddler of course. He’s growing into his own person. Comfortable in his skin. Full of his own hopes and dreams, ideas and opinions of what is right and wrong. He’s a day dreamer and an old soul wrapped into one.

Los Angeles, California

After leaving the desert, I drove to Los Angeles, California and had the pleasure of meeting up with Pete Halvorsen in Venice. He’s such a great guy and super talented photographer.

The next day I picked up Lauren and the kids at the airport and we spent an extended weekend on the west side of LA. These are a few photographs from Venice, Santa Monica and Manhattan Beach.

A few days alone, in the desert

Earlier this month I attended a business conference in Tucson, Arizona. The conference ended a few days before I had planned to meet up with Lauren and the kids in Los Angeles.

So when the conference ended, I rented a car and spent a few days driving and exploring the desert on my own, as I traveled west.

I spent a night in Joshua Tree park. I had never been before and I was really looking forward to making the visit. The Joshua trees were beginning to bloom. Everything was so peaceful and beautiful. I made a two hour hike in the morning and just took in the solitude.
