Six months

Today is July 4th. It’s not hard to feel patriotic. Especially from here.

Lauren and I hit the six month mark since we left Boston for Prague. We’re still finding our footing.

What I didn’t expect was how much the small things would matter. Morning visits to the bakery. A beer with new friends. Wandering through villages we’d never heard of six months ago.

I’m making more photographs here. A few portraits and some landscapes but mostly just quiet moments along my walks. For fellow film lovers I’m finding renewed love for 35mm after shooting mostly medium format back home.

The work has been incredible. I’m grateful for my team at Embassy Prague. They amaze me and we are doing such important work at such an important time.

And Lauren. I wouldn’t be here without her.

I wake up most mornings and can’t quite believe this is my life. It’s a privilege to be here and to serve my country.

Lauren and I share a quiet conversation and some laughs with Czech President Petr Pavel
