It’s no secret. I love Twitter. I fell for it in 2007 and haven’t looked back. It changed my life and that’s a fact.
I follow hundreds of people. You can take a look at every single person and brand I follow on my profile @bijan
I modify the folks I follow every few months. Mostly I add new ones but occasionally take some names off so my twitter feed frequently gets a new flavor
And I open the app throughout the day. Sometimes to share a thought, or a link or a photograph. And mostly to read.
I search on Twitter every day as well.
But this post is about something else. It’s about a secret list I follow and I call it favtweeps as you can see in this screenshot.
When I’m pressed for time I goto this list. It’s a list of intentionally less than 50 people whose tweets I never want to miss. And the cool thing is I can mark this list as private so I don’t have any social hangups.
Give twitter lists a try if you don’t already. Create a small one and mark it as private. And see what happens.

Hacking your life
I’m a husband, dad and I have a full time job.
It can get pretty busy and it has been beyond helpful for me to pause, catch my breath and reflect.
I’m trying to make this a mindset instead of a thing I attempt every few weeks or months. One of the ways I do that is with Lift. Lift is an app where you set up your own personal daily goals.
I started out with a dozen or more things on my Lift list. It was too much. I now have it down to these 6 things.
- Be grateful for someone or something
- Exercise
- Meditate
- Random act of kindness
- Say ‘no’ to one thing each day
- Spend time outside
I open up the app every morning and every night. I don’t always meet my daily goal for sure but it’s a mindset more than anything else. And when I do it all, it feels so good.
The thing that touches me with my daily use of Lift is the same thing that moved me when I watched the widely popular video of Logan LaPlante, a 13 year old boy, who has an amazing perspective and mindset about being happy, healthy and creative. Please go watch it if you haven’t done so already. It takes 10 minutes. You have time for this.
Logan and his family have hacked his education to prioritize the really important things in life. When Logan talks about “making a life” vs “making a living” the words ring true.
It’s too easy in our hectic day to day to forget what’s most important. If Logan can hack his education, it’s time for us adults to figure out better ways to hack our life.
