I built my first internet company before and then during the dot com boom. It was far easier to do great work before everything heated up, far easier to stand out and far easier to make a difference. This is your moment, but I’m afraid it won’t be easy.

My little boy. Superhero.
July, July! – The Decemberists
As you can see from this photo of @laurensabet i took last night, it was cold & damp at the Pavillion. But it didn’t matter. The Decemberists rocked boston and we had a blast. Great show.
New Google Sync (so close but not what I need)
Google took another shot at Microsoft with their new Google sync.
Now corporate users can sync Google apps with Microsoft Outlook.
But I want the opposite.
I want a version of Google sync that connects gcal & contacts with MS Exchange server.
I need that yesterday.
Against The Law – Billy Bragg
I usually wait until Fridays to post covers but I’m breaking that rule today. Original by Woody Guthrie.
Songkick
Back in February, I wrote a post – “Wanting More After The Concert”
I want a way to share a setlist, photos, bootlegs, and connect with other fans after a show.
A week or so after I wrote that post, I was introduced to Ian Hogarth who is the founder of Songkick. They had been quietly building a service to offer something similar to that idea.
I signed up to the beta program a week ago – here’s my profile. And today they came out of stealth mode.
That is good timing.
We are going to see the Decemberists tonight in Boston. I’ll do my best to add to Songkick after the show.
I hope others do too.
iPhone 3GS
There was bunch of stuff announced today at the Apple WWDC.
Snow Leopard looks promising. Native support for MS Exchange is a big deal for me.
I’ve been testing the latest 3.0 OS for months now. And it solves some big things that i hated about the iphone previously. It’s a signficiant upgrade.
And tonight I ordered the new iPhone 3Gs. There wasn’t any one feature that put me over the top – it was really the combination of a few things (speed increase, better camera, video and bettery battery life).
I’ll share my thoughts when I it arrives.
My Top 5 Artists (Week Ending 2009-6-7)
Road To Joy – Bright Eyes
Next month we’re going to see Conor Oberst playing with Wilco. I hope he plays this song.
The night before WWDC
Apple’s WWDC is taking place tomorrow.
I hope we will see Steve Jobs on stage.
I’ve been using iPhone 3.0 OS beta for a few months now. It’s fantastic. The big new features are:
1. copy & paste
2. search
3. keyboard in landscape mode inside email
John Gruber has a bunch predictions about a new iPhone. I will get one even if a bump in processor/RAM is the only meaningful hardware update.
That will be a big improvement alone in my opinion.
