I may not know Troy Davis, but I don’t have to in order to care about him. I will never be able to hug him, watch him laugh, or see him cry, but I will stand in solidarity with him because he is a fellow human being who deserves life. Even if per chance he is guilty, and even if he did commit the act that is being accused of him, I would stand in solidarity with him because our humanities are tied to each other. I do not believe that killing a man will accomplish anything. I believe in grace, mercy, and reconciliation every time. People severely underestimate the power of transformational love, and I think it’s about time we start recovering the humanity that we’re quickly losing.
