Digitizing my old photos

My friend Stu has been telling me for years about a service called ScanCafe. ScanCafe takes your photos (prints or slides) and scans them for you.

I wasn’t sure about the idea of shipping off all of our old prints in case something happened to them along the way but I did send them a few hundred to try out.

I’m so glad I did. ScanCafe did an incredible job. About 9 weeks later, I received all of my prints back and a DVD with all of the scanned images.

This is a snapshot of me during my freshman year in college.

I’m now in the process of uploading them all to flickr. I wish there was an easier way to tag and upload. So for now they are in a separate “set” (album) on Flickr and I’ll tag them at some point.

It’s really cool having them available to access anytime I need them. I can’t wait to show Lauren some of our old photos with Boxee on the big screen.

My next project is to get all of our old photos out of physical albums and ship them off to ScanCafe.
