My favorite things about the new Tumblr v5
The team at Tumblr launched Tumblr v5 today. They have been working really hard on this and it shows. It absolutely amazing. (disclosure: I am an investor in the company)
Here are my favorite things about this release.
1. Tumblr Search. Tumblr search is now available for anyone to use. It works for your own Tumblr site or across all tumblr powered sites. And best of all, it doesn’t matter if you are a registered user or not. You’ll have to try it out to believe how good it is. But here’s an example for a search on “Ben Kweller” or plane crash.
2. Tumblr Trends. With Tumblr trends you can search for what is trending on Tumblr. Here’s a trend chart comparing Blackberry to iPhone across all Tumblr sites.
3. The new Tumblr Dashboard is beautiful. Cleaner all around navigation. And I can see posts I’ve “liked” the most on Tumblr
4. The new Tumblr theme garden. So easy to check out and install new themes.
5. They launched a new 3rd party App Directory.
6. The new Tumblr Directory has been updated and improved.
7. With all of this new stuff they kept it so simple
