Techmeme vs Hacker News

I’ve been reading Hacker News more and more these days.

In a way Hacker News sort of captures the best of techmeme and the best of Slashdot. It’s very easy to read and it supports comments too.

The biggest drawback with Techmeme is that it’s limited for the most part to the folks or entities on the Techmeme Leaderboard.

Hacker News has broader sources of info. It also addresses one of Fred’s pet peeves about Techmeme. When will a blog comment anchor a post on Techmeme?

I like that idea a lot and it happens on Hacker News. For example, right now the number one story on Hacker News is David Hornik’s comment (defense) on Robert Scoble’s blog post about Silicon Valley VCs.
