Me.dium Social Search
I’ve written about Me.dium several times on this blog but as reminder Me.dium has developed a really fun Firefox extension and IE add-on that lets you browse the web with your friends in real time. Or you can see where others are surfing in real time on related websites. It’s 100% opt-in and you can hide or go into private mode with just a click. (disclosure: we are investors in the company)
Yesterday, Me.dium announced a new application built on top of their platform. It’s a search engine that uses a combination of the Me.dium dataset & search technology integrated with Yahoo! Search Boss. And you don’t have to have the Me.dium FF extension or IE add on to use their search engine.
What this means is that Me.dium’s Social Search will give you results based on where people are online right now, or how fast they are hitting the page, or recent activity or based on average session duration. All of this a result of where, when and what Me.dium users are paying attention to online.
The search experience just became more social and we are pretty excited about it.
Give it a try here.
