Why I’m not getting a Kindle
A few months ago, I tried to buy a Kindle.
I waited for weeks but it felt like forever.c
I ended up canceling my order and then re ordering it again thinking or hoping that would help. After waiting a week or so I canceled it all together. And i’m not going to order it again.
Why?
It’s not because I was tired of waiting. Lord knows I’m a patient guy when it comes to new products and technologies.
I just can’t handle the idea of another thing in my life to charge up. Right now my daily routine at night is to charge my iphone, blackberry, macbook air. Every weekend I’m charging my 2 digital cameras and my Sanyo Xacti HD camcorder. And thats just my stuff. Lauren has stuff and so do the kids. And I keep it all charged usually. I regret it those often times that i forget.
On my recently trip to the west coast, I was wondering out loud what I’m gonna do if my Macbook Air’s battery dies mid-flight. Lauren told me (with a big smile) without missing a beat “why don’t you read a book.”
And that was all I needed to hear. Pathetic that she had to say it but it sank it.
I’m picking analog over digital when it comes to books. At least for now. I know many of you will tell me that the Kindle battery life is super long. And I”m happy for you. But right now it doesn’t work for me.
Fred has a great post today about convenience beating quality. I think he’s absolutely right. And this is my version of it I suppose.
