What makes Firefox so great?
I’ve been using Firefox as my default browser for a long time. I’ve had short little flings with Safari and even Camino but I always return. For us Mac users, Firefox has been a godsend. Do you remember how bad life was when IE for the Mac was our only option running System 9. Those days give me a shudder.
So now Windows users and Mac users have plenty of great choices in which browser they install.
Now the question is which one will they use?
The default one that comes with their computer? I think users are taking over so this option will become less important over time.
Will we pick the one that’s the most secure? That’s a big one.
Features & functinality? You bet. But I’ve been wondering will this innovation come mostly from features & functionality built from the browser developer or from the users & 3rd party developers. Is that the difference between Firefox and Flock?
I’ve been pleased so far with Firefox 3.0. It’s the best browser I’ve ever used on a Mac. It runs the extensions I care about. Nothing more and nothing less. And it stays out of my way when I need it to.
That’s only half true I guess. Naturally, I always want more Firefox applications though. I want to see more social apps built on firefox and I want a TV user interface for it. And search will become more advanced instead of just a link to google.
What do you want from you browser?
