Tumblr users get some love at Technorati

My blog has never been super popular or on the top of any leaderboard. But I’m proud of this site and the kind folks that have been part of this blog - either by just visiting, commenting, linking or reblogging. I’ve learned a ton blogging and I love all of the new friends I’ve made or friends I’ve gotten to know better thru blogging.

One thing I’ve noticed is that Tumblr sites do pretty well with Technorati rankings. That is because Tumblr encourages users to reblog. And reblogs include links which is how Technorati ranks blogs. Specifically their ranking is about how many unique sites link to your blog over a rolling 6 months. It doesn’t matter if the link comes for a site with lots of visitors or little traffic.

Before I switched to Tumblr, my old Typepad hosted blog was “ranked” 75k or lower.

I’ve been using Tumblr full time since October. My technorati rank is 31k and getting higher every week.

Now I don’t necessarily care about the specific Technorati authority or ranking. I am interested when my posts are reblogged or linked to. I like seeing what others have to say about my posts. That’s how I meet more people, learn and find new blogs. That’s the real reason I regularly check my site on Technorati.

But it is interesting to see that Tumblr users also get some love on Technorati as well.
