Thoughts on my new new MacBook Pro

My old macbook pro was aging. The disk was filling up, it maxed out at 2 gigs of RAM, it was getting bogged down

Three weeks ago I bought a new MacBook Pro but then last week apple updated their line and added an Intel Penryn processor and increased the disk size. So I returned mine to Amazon and ordered a new one from Apple (amazon return policy is fab)

The new machine arrived yesterday. Some initial thoughts

-Data transfer. Since I just went through a data migration just a few weeks ago, I was lazy and thought I’d roll the dice and try Apple’s Migration Assistant. Apps, data, bookmarks, everything. Guess what? It just worked. The only thing that didn’t work was the printer drivers for my office but that was easy enough

-Speed. This thing feels faster than my previous MacBook Pro’s. Everything is smoother. Importing music, photos, encoding a movie, navigating around the Finder. Maybe it’s because of the new procesor. And also this disk is much faster.

-Temp. a lot cooler than my previous MBP. Still warm but much more comfortable

-Multitouch trackpad is fun. I can flick, swipe, zoom and shrink just like my iPhone. Zoom seems to work fine in iphoto but I can’t get swipe to work. Not sure if i’m doing something wrong?

-I wish they got rid of the stinking latch on the monitor but oh well.

Now I just need some new stickers. Feel free to send any my way!
