Motion sensor + AIM

Peter from Bug Labs stopped by yesterday and there are lots of cool things happening at Bug. They are getting closer to shipping their first units of BUGBase and initial set of modules. So I got to play around yesterday.

Although the product hasn’t shipped yet there is the beginnnings of an active forum & wiki where people are starting to exchange ideas, information, ask questions and provide feedback.

And applications are starting to appear on BUGnet from the community.

Here’s one that caught my eye called AIMMotionNotifier. It combines the motion sensor module with AIM. Here’s the description from the developer Graymath:

Application that notifies an AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) user of a motion detected event. Sends the user the GPS information describing where the motion event occured. After the components are snapped in, the LCD screen calls for a valid AIM screen name and password, as well as valid target screen name. Room for improvement: on screen LCD keyboard for login fields, more responsive GUI for login failures, etc.

At first I didn’t get this app but now I think it could be extremely cool and will probably use it.

The app has already been downloaded over 100 times which is kinda remarkable since the hardware isn’t even out yet.
