Daydreaming about APIs in unusual places

If you read my blog from time to time you will know I’m a big fan of open platforms and open APIs.

It’s obvious how important those things are to products like Twitter, Boxee and firefox, just to name a few. We all benefit from third party applications and community innovation.

Imagine what the world will be like when things that don’t tradionally have an IP address get one and get an open API along the way.

Here’s a short list of things I hope get an API in the future.

-my in car navigation system

-my watch

-my home av system

-my home heating/cooling system

-my bike

-home security

-my credit cards (hopefully @square will make this happen!)

-cable set top box

Where do you want APIs?

(pls excuse typos. Wrote this quickly on my phone).
