Bug Labs Update
Peter and the gang over at Bug Labs are working extremely hard on a big idea.
They are creating the long tail of consumer electronics or as Peter says “community electronics”.
When Bug came out of stealth mode earlier this year they announced product availability by end of this year. Software and hardware was coming along great and they have been showing off working prototypes over the last few weeks.
However after thorough testing, the team decided they weren’t happy enough - specifically with the quality of the hardware module connectors on the BUGbase. And as a result, they won’t ship this year.
Peter provides all the details of the issues and the new date over on BugBlogger. I applaud Peter for providing all of the thinking behind this decision. I know how hard they were trying to make the original date.
But this decision is the right one and for the right reasons. Product quality is naturally the highest priority for Bug Labs.
I actually wish more companies had the same attitude.
(disclosure: Bug Labs is a Spark portfolio company)

There are so many things I love about this… particularly ‘community electronics’. Looking see where bug goes… thanks...
