Disqus rocks
Commenting on blogs have been stuck in the dark ages. Basic functionality that have been supported on 10+ year old message board platforms are much more advanced. Last year I posted my thoughts and made the suggestion at the time:
“Maybe we need a publish/subscribe model for profile comments fully intergrated with email and IM. Or maybe blogging tools will empower users to manage their own profiles and suck in feeds from other social networks. Or maybe MyBlogLog will nail Unified Messaging 2.0.”
For the past month I’ve been using a new commenting service called Disqus. And it does all of what I’ve been asking for and way more. Daniel Ha is one of the co-founders and he is a great guy. Fred has a post about Disqus coming out of closed beta today.
If you read this blog, I would encourage you to sign up for Disqus now that it’s open, add your photo to your Disqus profile and check off the email settings appropriately. Then we can all see your shiny faces when you post a comment and you will be notified when someone follows up on your comments as well. Both here and other blogs using Disqus.
