Will Microsoft Office 2010 work with Firefox?
The lead story on Techmeme today is all about Microsoft’s plan to roll out a web version of Office 2010.
At our house we have been exclusively using Google Apps w/Gears instead of Microsoft Office on our computers for months now. Web apps with offline support is fantastic. It’s been perfectly great for our needs.
But I will absolutely give Office 2010 a shot when it’s available.
I read a few blogs about this new release but I couldn’t figure out one important thing.
Will the web version of Office 2010 work with Firefox or Safari?
Right now, Outlook Web Access and Sharepoint don’t run right in a non-IE browser. Functionality is either missing or messed up. So, I don’t use it.
I’m hoping Microsoft supports all browsers with their next release. As Fred shared last week, Internet Explorer isn’t the only game in town for many of us.
Update: I’ve heard from many folks that MSFT will support Firefox with the web version of Office 2010. That’s fantastic!
