The ideal tablet form factor
My brother, @aminsabet, came over last night and showed me something quite cool.
He rooted the Nook Color and now has full Android running on it. It’s a full fledged Android tablet. With a 7” screen it’s considerably smaller than the iPad. And it’s much cheaper than the iPad. I believe the Nook Color is $250.
I played around with it and it is very cool.
But it just...

What is the best way to contact you professionally about a project/business that I would like to get funding/support for? A friend and I are in the process of working on a business plan for an idea and I remembered I have been following you for a bit on Tumblr.
Thanks!
Sal

I want to get rid of my phone number
Google made big news recently by allowing anyone to port their existing mobile number to Google Voice.
It’s an exciting move. I think google thru their grandcentral acquisition will provide more innovation with voice and data than any carrier will do on their own. Plus you can switch handsets at will without pain.
But the idea of phone numbers itself is really the root problem. My friend...
New year, new theme
So it’s a new year and I’ve been thinking about a new theme.
It’s no secret that I’ve been a huge admirer of @ev and his minimalist theme over at evhead. A few months back I reached out to the talented Bill Israel to help me with an updated theme that would bring a cleaner look to this site.
I’m very happy with the new look and feel. I hope you like it too.

Using the iPad more and more
Apple recently announced they shipped a zillion iPads for the quarter.
It’s an amazing device. I use mine a ton and I’m starting to find new uses for it all the time.
Since I picked mine up day 1, it had been mostly a consumption device for me. Instapaper, Flipboard, Netflix and others brought a very sweet iPad experience. I’ve been playing around with Boxee for iPad (in...

My love affair with SMS may come to an end
I’ve been a big fan, admirer and user of SMS for a long time.
So simple. So easy. So immediate.
It’s how I my affair with Twitter began. And I still send tweets via sms (although my favorite way to tweet is Twitter for iOS)
But increasingly I find myself using SMS less and less.
My biggest issue: it’s just not reliable. I’ve had problems on AT&T and with Google...

Thoughts on a standing desk?
It’s this time of year that I start taking care of my body again. I eat better, I exercise more, I’m mindful.
So I read with great interest this post on Lifehacker about a standing desk.
I’ve seen folks do this from time to time but never thought the idea was compelling.
Until now.
Should I make the switch? Any feedback or recommendations would be great.
Thanks.

When it comes to hiring, best not to force it.
There are many times in startups and in life where tireless perseverance pays off.
Even if the mission or company ultimately fails, the failure is honorable, critical lessons are learned and the journey continues.
The one place where I think you should think twice about tireless perserverance is in hiring.
Hiring requires a focused dedication to do it right. But I’m always very cautious...
